Tasks and SolutionsPlanning the technical fittings for a building complex in the health sector Kind of Object and UseNew construction of an operating centre with 315 beds and 15 operating theatres, approximately 70,000 m² GFA; Owner: Ulm University Hospital The construction of the surgical centre will replace a historical building that is not suitable for hospital redevelopment. The new building will have 15 operating theatres for outpatient and inpatient operations as well as 235 standard beds and 80 intensive care beds in the four specialisms of surgery, radiology, anesthesiology, dermatology and allergology. The design is made up of two main buildings, a base and a floating wing above the main road, as well as a lone ancillary building: the lecture building. Construction started in early 2008, with completion planned for the start of 2012. Canzler is responsible for the overall planning of the technical fittings of the building, including the supply of the required medical utilities and disposal services. Due to the complex technical requirements, planning is being documented in 3D-CAD mode.
